Remember Hercule, a Clydesdale gelding - the breed made famous by the Budweiser Beer company. Hercule is about 17.3 hands tall and weighs more than 1,800 lbs. Because he was the youngest horse, he handled many of the warmer weather livery assignments. Hercule was on loan from our farrier. In the photo below is Nellie, our grey Percheron who passed away in 2014.

Elysian Fields Farm Horse & Carriage is committed to high standards in horse care and livery, We offer a clear choice for special occasions hires because we do not do any other kind of livery. We support the use of horses for carriage, wagon and cart tours by appointment where they can be safely conducted.
In general, we do not support the use of horses for curbside or hackline carriage operations in busy urban centers, nor will we maintain membership any organization or association that supports the use of horses under such circumstances.
Because we do not support the use of horses for curbside carriage operations in urban areas, we are no longer members of CONA (Carriage Operators of North America). That organization does support such operations, and welcomes them as members.
In most urban carriage operations, horses often stand for 9 hours or more curbside on the street in harness waiting for people to to hire the carriages for rides. They are often stabled in stalls smaller than 12X12 ft and have no access to turnout at liberty like rural and semi-rural horses have.
